On April 2, 2013, the Antel Arena project was launched during the diligence of Carolina Cosse in charge of Antel, conceived as a multifunctional stadium with high technology and constructive equipment, capable of adapting to sporting, artistic and cultural events.

Angela Perdomo (representing the contestants) and the architects proposed by Antel, Rafael Viñoly and Giancarlo Mazzanti, with the advice of Thomas Sprechmann, Marcelo Danza and Carlos Arcos.

Implosion of the Old Municipal Cylinder of Montevideo

On May 12, 2014 at 3:58 p.m., one of the fundamental milestones of this process took place with the implosion of the remains of the Urban Cylinder, which allowed the start of the works until its completion today.

Throughout the process, Antel opted for national capacities to carry out a select project.

Surroundings of Antel Arena and Barrio de la Innovacción

When building the Antel Arena, the environment, the surrounding neighborhoods and the community in the so-called Innovation Neighborhood have always been taken into account. Parallel to the development of the project, various social interventions were carried out to interact with neighbors and promote coexistence and inclusion.

A few days after the announcement of the project, the Antel Arena Cup was held on the occasion of the brand new lighting of the children’s soccer field of the Club Deportivo Oriental, and in October the new field was finally presented.

A public park, basketball and beach soccer courts and a nursery were also inaugurated, as well as an Antel store to bring the company’s services to the neighborhood.
